2023 Interior Design Trends

When we think of what’s trending in 2023, we think STATEMENT. Unlike fashion trends, interior design doesn’t necessarily flow with the seasons. In reality, interior design trends usually shift every 5-10 years. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?

In the 1990’s a major trend in design looked like sheer minimalism. After a color wave in the 80’s, the 90’s went with a much more neutral and simple vibe. White kitchens were a must, Japanese inspired decor, and shades of mauve were it. When the millennium embraced us with its presence, it was more than J Lo’s “Waiting For Tonight” of glimmer and glam.

The 2000’s brought back vintage in all of its “chicness”. Crystal chandeliers, crown molding, and any DIY queen’s version making their furniture appear “rustic” and “antique”. Brown and pinks were a match made in heaven, and Ikea just about flooded every household. Now here we are, almost two decades later and design has once again taken a leap, while in our opinion, bringing inspiration from the past.

In 2023, you can find bold and moody colors (especially on walls) that compliment natural materials such as bamboo, wood, and rattan. In unison to working with natural materials, curved, round edged and life-like furniture pieces are filling the home and add a creative edge to designs. This year, we can find design and decor combinations such as Mid-Century Modern and Modern Classic.

You can find little hints of the 70’s like warm blush, avocado greens, or mustard tones, styled with Mid Century furniture pieces that are complemented by modern style mushroom lamps, paper and fabric lighting.

Modern Classic takes on design are embodying gorgeous shimmering chandeliers while balancing light colors and bold shapes. Say bye-bye to gray tones (yes, your floors too), statement shelves, and gold/bronze hardware. Metal hardware, porcelain countertops, and handle-less cabinets in your kitchens are the future of design and we are here for it all!
