Downtown Ft. Lauderdale Condo

This Downtown condo is a vacation home for the client and her family. The style here is happy, tropical and casual. We changed the flooring and lighting, and added a tile back splash in the kitchen. We then painted, furnished and accessorized the apartment.
One of the design challenges we faced was deciding way to orient the planks of the wood floor. You enter the space through a long narrow hallway which opens up onto a large great room, perpendicular to the hallway. If the planks were run the long-way in the hallway, the orientation would be wrong once you reach the great room. To solve this dilemma we ran the planks on the diagonal, leading the eye right out the windows, and highlighting the spectacular river views.
I kept the bedrooms colorful and fun but not without glamor, adding luxurious touches like the satin, upholstered bed. The “tamarindo” print on guest room duvet makes reference to the client’s Caribbean heritage. The Seafoam green and Melon color combination pay homage to her sorority while reminding us of Old Florida, fitting for this residence in the heart of Fort Lauderdale.
